Main positives of the Diono Radian RXT Convertible Car Seat according to buyers:
Most customers agreed that the Radian RXT is very sturdy and well built. The steel frame makes it feel solid and like a product that will provide the safety that it promises. Amazon customers in large agreed that this is one of the most versatile seats in the market, providing the ability to fold and be carried as a backpack while traveling, being narrow enough to fit up to three of them in a car and offering convenience features such as up to 4 removable cupholders and machine washable covers.
One reviewer said he is an emergency responder and feels this seat sets itself apart because of how easy it is to properly buckle your child in, reducing the most common cause of injury to a child in an accident, which is improper use of the seat.
Another reviewer said that she loved the fact that the Diono sits low to the seat (lower center of gravity is safer in general) and makes it easier for kids to crawl into the seat themselves.
Of the 5 star reviews, most people agreed that a one of the most useful features of the Diono Radian RXT which sets it apart from the competition is it’s 10 year range, with the ability to be used for newborns weighing 5 lbs up to children weighing 120 lbs and 57 inches tall as a rear facing, forward facing and booster seat, making it a one time buy. Note that most car seats expire at 7 years, the Radian has a longer expiration date.
People also liked some of the details incorporated into the seat such as an emergency info card on the belt adjuster, which as one reviewer said, “I like the feature with the ability to list the child’s emergency contact information found by the seat belt adjuster.” This is helpful in the event of an accident where the parents are injured or unconscious. Other details they liked were multiple cup holders, backpack carry option (which is handy on trips, airport, etc), many color and pattern options.
One additional feature that the positive reviewers found about the Diono Radian RXT is it’s easy to follow, detailed instruction manual. The manual features QR codes on the pages which you can scan with a smartphone and it will show you a video of the installation instructions along the way.
Main customer complaints about the Diono Radian RXT Convertible Car Seat:
Of the dozens of reviews we read, the overwhelming majority of customers who had purchased the Diono Radian RXT were very satisfied with it. There were, however, customers who were not happy with their Radian. Chief among their complaints is that the unit is heavy and some felt bulky. Some said it is impractical for air travel as it is uncomfortable to carry the seat.
One reviewer was disappointed saying, “This seat is so big that when it is installed rear facing, nobody could actually sit in the passengers seat in front of it.”
Another liked the single hand adjustment of the Britax better. In this model you have to manually feed the straps through the back to adjust shoulder height.
There was only one 1 star review at the time of this writing and the person was upset because the seat did not fit into her car and she feels the manufacturer should be required to let her know which cars the seat does not fit into. We did not find justification for this low rating as the dimensions of the carseat can easily be found on the manufacturer’s website.
Summary of customer reviews of the Radian RXT:
Most of the reviews at the time of this writing either 4 or 5 stars. They raved about the Radian’s safety, convenience and versatility features.
